The Dalmore Comes of Age with New Launch
Last year, the No.6 Collection – the only complete set of The Dalmore Decades whiskies in the World – sold for over £800,000 at Sotheby’s. Many could argue this was one of the most outstanding collections of whisky ever curated, but The Dalmore, which has over 180 years of pioneering spirit under its belt, didn’t stop its relentless pursuit of excellence there. Later in 2021, the legendary distillery became one of the first in the world to launch its very own NFT.
The Master Distillers at The Dalmore have long believed that they’re artists, carefully curating outstanding liquids that are worthy collectors’ items – collections that are more than capable of standing proudly next to what some may consider more traditional forms of art. For The Dalmore, art and whisky go hand-in-hand, perfectly harmonising to create a sum worth infinitely more than the total of its parts.
After Sotheby’s auctioned The Decades No.6 Collection – which celebrated the visionary creators at The Dalmore – a significant percentage of the proceeds were donated to Scotland’s design museum and the first V&A Museum outside of London, V&A Dundee, to help fuel the arts powerhouse. The proceeds were offered as part of a long-term partnership between The Dalmore and the V&A to celebrate design, creativity and vision.
The Dalmore has redefined what luxury means in whisky, and pioneered the way to shifting the narrative around what a collectors’ item can be. But what if you can’t resist the urge to taste a piece of this history?
Fortunately for whisky lovers, The Dalmore’s latest launch offers a chance. Many say you can’t buy time, but you can buy 21 years of whisky making artistry.
This month, The Dalmore has introduced a new 21-Year-Old. A celebration – 21 years in the making – it is set to become the pinnacle of The Dalmore Principal Collection. This elegant expression showcases the care taken to nurture The Dalmore Single Malt Whisky across 21 years of whisky making craft. The new annual release is strictly limited to 9,000 bottles and available to purchase and enjoy in select locations worldwide.
It captures the essence of the carefully composed spirit produced by The Dalmore’s symphony of stills, with a character developed over 21 years. The Dalmore’s team of whisky making artists have taken exceptional care to balance the influence of rare casks in order to ensure the character of The Dalmore 21-Year-Old shines through.
A toast to the refinement that comes with age, it is a celebration of exceptional character and showcases the potential that emerges at this milestone, evolving to create a true masterpiece worth commemorating.
The Dalmore distillery produces a spirit renowned for depth and finesse, perfectly suited to maturation in carefully curated casks. This new expression rests for an initial period in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. The whisky is then matured in specially selected rare casks sourced from esteemed sherry makers Gonzalez Byass, of Jerez. These casks were previously used within the unique solera system to produce the distinguished 30-Year-Old Matusalem oloroso sherry.
The Dalmore 21-Year-Old composition is a symphony of the signature Dalmore DNA of oranges, bitter chocolate and gentle spices. Masterfully layered, it perfectly harmonises the characteristics of Columbian coffee on the nose, sweet liquorice, black forest fruits and marzipan on the palette and peaches on the finish.
In the words of Master Whisky Maker, Gregg Glass, “Only after 21 years can a whisky of this quality and depth emerge, creating a delectably distinguished Single Malt.
“The Dalmore 21-Year-Old is the result of patience and craftsmanship which we’re tremendously proud to celebrate. We created this spirit for those looking for the finest of whiskies, whilst also creating an opportunity for those embarking on their whisky journey to try something truly inspirational and remarkable from The Dalmore.”
The Dalmore Principal Collection is an exceptional collection of eight Single Malt Whiskies, each an expression of The Dalmore’s signature depth and finesse. The Dalmore 21-Year-Old will become the pinnacle of the collection that features the iconic The Dalmore King Alexander III and The Dalmore 18-Year-Old.
The Dalmore 21-Year-Old (bottled to be enjoyed at ABV 43.8%) is available from select luxury retail emporiums worldwide with an RRP of £575.
If you thought drinking a piece of history was out of reach, it’s time to think again.
