The Arts Society Launches CULTUR.ART

Arts education charity The Arts Society has launched CULTUR.ART, a new creative health charity, founded on the principle that the arts can be vital for our physical health and wellbeing.

Headed up by former Sotheby’s Head of Media Nigel Hilditch, CULTUR.ART’s mission is to bring art to more people, and show how easy it is to engage with art whether that be digitally, or in person. Unlocking the health benefits of the arts for a new generation of art lovers.

CULTUR.ART will comprise of a digital platform producing daily content across the arts on everything from fine art and photography to music, film, gaming, literature, and theatre.

Nigel Hilditch, Head of Studio at the new creative health charity says “research shows that just two hours a week of engagement with the arts – listening to music, reading, dancing, singing, painting, attending a concert, performance, or art class – can improve mental health. At CULTUR.ART we want to break down barriers and become a gateway for more people to engage with the arts and boost wellbeing.”

Launch series now available include:

The (Real) Value of Art is a deep dive into the psychology behind how we experience art based on Rebecca’s pioneering research.

Rebecca comments “I think the evidence is really mounting that the arts are good for our  physical and mental wellbeing. But I think more broadly it’s just a really important way  of communicating and giving ourselves a sense of shared meaning. Art isn’t just good  because it makes us feel fitter and healthier. It gives our lives meaning.”

CULTUR.ART launches with a four-point manifesto for artful living.

  • The Healing Power of Art – Science, our modern-day oracle, reveals what cultures the world over have understood for thousands of years; that the arts have a profound effect on our physical and mental well-being. Like exercise and nutrition, the arts can make us healthier and happier by elevating joy, alleviating stress, and infusing life with meaning. CULTUR.ART has been founded to champion the therapeutic potency of the arts.
  • Living Artfully Every Day – It is time to make room for the arts in our daily lives. CULTUR.ART is more than a content platform; it is a catalyst for living artfully every day. Helping people build a better life, with mind and senses open to the questions, answers, ideas and inspiration that surround us. Our purpose is clear — to make art mean more to more people.
  • Bridging the Divide – No longer shall the arts feel irrelevant or inaccessible. CULTUR.ART will unravel the mysteries of the art world, break down barriers, and make the realms of creativity accessible to all. We pledge to champion a digital haven for the next generation of art lovers, where art in all its forms can be explored in new ways, sparking new ideas, and building communities around fresh perspectives.
  • Building a Better Life – In the pursuit of an artful life, CULTUR.ART will motivate more frequent and deeper engagement with the arts, empowering people to discover, heal, and grow. Our global mission is clear — to promote and advance the arts, culture and heritage by making art mean more to more people.
