Sotheby’s will hold a series of dedicated auctions from The Estate of Barbara Sinatra in New York this December.

The collection will be split among three sales: Lady Blue Eyes: Property of Barbara and Frank Sinatra (6 December), Magnificent Jewels (4 December), and Lady Blue Eyes: Online (27 November-7 December)

Gathered primarily from the couple’s residences in Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Malibu, the objects on offer to collectors include fine art, decorative pieces and furniture.

Particular highlights of the Barbara and Frank Sinatra auction will include film memorabilia, including Frank Sinatra’s personal movie scripts; masterpieces, including works by Childe Hassam and Pablo Picasso; and jewellery.

Barbara Sinatra’s personal jewellery collection—which includes pieces from renowned houses including Van Cleef & Arpels, Marina B and Bulgari—will be the highlight of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction, which will take place on 4 December.

The sale will feature a varied selection of 70s and 80s jewels. Standout pieces include a Pair of Sapphire, Coloured Sapphire and Diamond Earclips (estimate $30,000-50,000) and a Diamond, Turquoise and Onyx Parure (estimate $50,000-70,000).

Glamorous worlds

Together, the collection seeks to highlight the glamorous worlds that the famous Sinatras lived in. Collectors and bidders alike will be able to catch a glimpse of the couple’s public and private life through the impressive array of objects on offer.

A portion of the proceeds of the Barbara and Frank Sinatra auction will benefit the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center in Rancho Mirage, California.

The non-profit organisation was founded by the couple in 1986 and seeks to provide counselling for victims of sexual and emotional child abuse.

The items in this sale will be available to view in Sotheby’s New York galleries from 30 November 2018.
