From Friday 24th May to Sunday 26th May 2019, the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este and Villa Erba will be the exclusive and unique settings for the Concorso d’Eleganza, a regular event giving guests the chance to admire the finest historic cars and motorcycles of their eras.
The Grand Hotel Villa d’Este is one of the world’s most iconic hotels, located on the shores of Lake Como, with around 50 historic cars built between the 1920s and 1980s dotted around the grounds and parkland.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este owes its privileged status among the world’s most prestigious heritage events for historic vehicles to a number of unique attributes. These include the elegance of the event, its long and illustrious tradition, the unrivalled flair experienced at the majestic Grand Hotel Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como and the small, select groups of participants.
This year the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will be represented by the motto The Symphony of Engines – 90 Years of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este & BMW Automobiles.

A panel of jury members led by president Lorenzo Ramaciotti will award the Best of Show prize – the BMW Group Trophy. This is conferred for an extraordinary automobile which expresses beauty, passion and uniqueness. The public will choose their favourite car by Public Referendum on the Saturday at Villa d’Este. The prize awarded for the darling of the public is the Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este.
Visitors to the three-day event in Cernobbio will also be able to look forward to the heritage highlights presented in the grounds of Villa Erba, includin the Concorso di Motociclette, which itself has six classes for historic motorcycles.
New trophies for the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2019 have been produced using a 3D printing process at Designworks, the subsidiary company of the BMW Group. The stylish and inimitable design that provides an impressive reflection of the aesthetic value and exclusivity of the vehicles receiving the awards. The crafting of the trophies was carried out within the company at the Additive Manufacturing Centre of the BMW Group. Using the innovative 3D printing process, the conceptual drafts developed by the designers were transformed into an expressive artistic creation fashioned from a special aluminium alloy. Gilded interior surfaces, precise polishing, high-gloss burnished contours and laser engraving lend the precious trophies a unique and lustrous radiance.
A timepiece has been created exclusively by the official watch provider A. Lange & Söhne. This one-of-a-kind mechanical wristwatch, the special model LANGE 1 TIME ZONE “Como Edition” has a solid white-gold caseback displaying the hand-engraved coat of arms of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The rotating city ring on the side of the dial represents Como instead of CET – a tribute to the venue of the competition. This will also be presented to the owner of the “Best of Show” together with the new Trofeo BMW Group at the final award ceremony.
The pageant will be held in the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este and the parkland of neighbouring Villa Erba situated on the shores of Lake Como in Cernobbio, Northern Italy, from 24th to 26th May 2019.
