FNB Joburg Art Fair

FNB Joburg Art Fair, initiated by Artlogic, is the leading African art fair and first of its kind on the continent.

The Fair is pleased to announce the selection of exhibitors for its seventh edition. Taking place 22 – 24 August at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, the FNB Joburg Art Fair brings together the best of contemporary art from Africa and showcases innovative artists, galleries, writers and curators as well as writers and art lovers.

The 2014 edition will host 39 exhibitors from 8 countries exhibiting an array of significant modern and contemporary works from Africa and the Diaspora. Galleries and Art Platforms that stretch from Europe through Africa are split into four sections: Established Galleries, Young Galleries, Art Platforms and Special Projects.

FNB Joburg Art Fair was founded in 2008 and over the past six years the Fair has hosted top international curators and directors from institutions such as Tate Modern and the Venice Biennale, all while building a solid base of buyers from South Africa and the continent. And for the first time, Artlogic has now established a formal Selection Committee comprising of five gallery owners from Africa to help shape quality presentations from the burgeoning African art market landscape.

Director of the Fair Ross Douglas noted: “Too often talent has to leave Africa to find a market. What’s been amazing about building the FNB Joburg Art Fair is that we have helped to create a more sustainable art economy.”
