The 9th edition of Art on Paper will be held from October 03rd to 06th, 2024 at the Gare Maritime in Brussels. The fair returns to the sumptuous spaces of the Gare Maritime, which it will once again transform into the “Grand Palais of drawing in Brussels”.
With its human-scale format, remarkable location in Brussels, artistic quality and unique positioning, the fair today stands out among international initiatives dedicated to the medium for collectors, dealers and art professionals.
After a remarkable edition in 2023, the fair confirms the dynamism and attractiveness of the drawing and works on paper market in Europe. The fair offers visitors an exceptional discovery of drawing through the centuries.
This year, Art on Paper will welcome some 50 Belgian and international galleries, and will further accentuate its openness to modern and ancient art galleries alongside contemporary artistic proposals.
Art on Paper confirms the appeal of its unique formula, with galleries including A&R Fleury (Paris), Thomas Deprez Fine Arts (Brussels), Galerie de la Beraudière (Bruxelles, Genève) and Patrick Lancz (Brussels) taking part.
On the international front, the Almine Rech gallery, present in eight countries worldwide, three Asian galleries (two Korean and one Japanese) and an American gallery (Keijsers Koning, Dallas – US) are among the participating galleries. Asian artists will also enjoy remarkable visibility in the fair of this year. To date, more than 10 artists’ solo shows are already scheduled (Kim Beomjoong – Yeemock Gallery, Valentin van der Meulen – Strouk Gallery, Fumie Onuki – Kitai Gallery, …)
Collection
Under the guidance of Virginie Devillez, Senior Advisor to Art on Paper, two exhibitions of exceptional collections will be on view at the heart of the fair, organised in partnership with the Fondation Roi Baudouin and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tournai respectively.
- The first exhibition focuses on works on paper from the collection of Jos Knaepen (1933-2014), which she bequeathed to the King Baudouin Foundation.
- The second, in collaboration with the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tournai, presents a selection of drawings by the Brussels patron and collector Henri Van Cutsem (1839-1904), offering visitors the opportunity to (re)discover the Museum’s unique and exceptional collection.
