Julien’s Auctions held its highly-anticipated event, Property From The Life and Career of Amy Winehouse on Saturday, November 6th and Sunday, November 7th, 2021, in front of a global audience of music fans, investors and collectors bidding live in person, on the phone, and online at the two-day auction event live in Beverly Hills and online at www.juliensauctions.com.
Over 800 of Amy Winehouse’s most iconic stage, photo shoot and performance worn dresses, shoes, jewelry and accessories that were synonymous with the individualistic style and signature artistry of the of the five-time GRAMMY Award®-winning retro-soul music superstar and pop diva as well as her most personal items were sold for the first time at the world-record breaking auction house with final results exceeding all their original estimates.
The top highlight of the auction was the sale of Amy Winehouse’s dress worn in her final stage performance in Belgrade in her 2011 Summer Festival Tour, which sold for an astounding $243,200, sixteen times its original estimate of $15,000. The custom-made figure-hugging halter mini dress designed by Winehouse’s designer and stylist, Naomi Parry has a bamboo and floral print on silk incorporated into a Spanx dress.

Another stunning headliner of the event was the sale of a Moschino custom made red leather heart shaped purse used by Amy Winehouse at the 2007 Brit Awards which sold for $204,800, thirteen times its original estimate of $15,000. A floral gold lamé D&G stage worn dress sold for a staggering $150,000, thirty times its original estimate as well as a Temperly London tan and black jumpsuit worn at a Sunday Times 2008 portrait shoot and the 46664 Concert performance honoring Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday in Hyde Park, Lnodon which sold for an astonishing $121,600, one hundred twenty-one times its original estimate of $1,000. In addition, the skirt she wore (sold for $11,250) and her Christian Louboutin tan peep toe heels worn at the same performance and to her father’s 60th birthday party at Trent Park Golf Course on November 27, 2009 and to London’s The Horse and Hound Pub on August 25, 2010, sold for $38,400, sixty-four times its original estimate of $600.

- A Vivienne Tam plaid dress worn to the Meteor Ireland Music Awards 2007 at The Point Theatre on February 1, 2007, in Dublin, Ireland, sold for $93,750, forty-six times its original estimate of $2,000 as well as a Vivienne Tam strapless mini dress worn while performing at Joe’s Pub on January 16, 2007, in New York; to the South Bank Show Awards at The Savoy Hotel on January 23, 2007, in London; and while performing at Paradiso in Amsterdam on February 9, 2007 ($83,200, forty one times its original estimate of $2,000)
- An Agent Provocateur turquoise silk blend 34B size bra with lace trim and red bow worn by Amy Winehouse in the “You Know I’m No Good” music video, which sold for $25,600, twenty-fives times its original estimate of $1.000
- Patricia Field hot pink mini dress worn out in London with Reg Traviss in 2010, which sold for $62,500, sixty-two times its original estimate
- A petal pink Roberts Revival R250 radio seen in an early portrait of Winehouse by Charles Moriarty, which sold for $21,875, seventy-three times its original estimate of $300
- A Betsey Johnson silky jungle cat print dress worn while performing at the Highline Ballroom in New York in May 2007 ($34,375)
- A black Ben Sherman wool coat worn at the Brit Awards Universal Music Party in 2007 ($28,125, twenty-eight times its original estimate);
- A striped mini dress worn by Amy Winehouse while performing “Rehab” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno ($25,000)
- A mini dress printed with a dance step chart worn while performing at the Zenith in Paris ($21,875)
- A taupe satin dress, worn while performing at the Carling Academy in Newcastle ($21,875)
- Pairs of her petal pink satin ballet slippers with leather soles (sold for $12,500 to $19,200)
- A dress worn while performing at the Amy Winehouse and Sophie Ellis Bextor concert ($21,875)
- A red stretch Adidas mini dress stage worn by Amy Winehouse circa 2004 which sold for $62,500, sixty-two and a half times its original estimate of $1,000
- A stage worn terra cotta silk faille mini dress ($16,000)
- A dress worn in 2007 to a dinner hosted by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen ($18,750)
- A top with horseshoe print worn while performing “Back to Black” at Glastonbury ($10,000)
- A strapless dress worn in the January 2008 issue of Blender magazine ($15,625)
- A skirt worn by Amy Winehouse for the 50th GRAMMY Awards in 2008, when she won five awards ($11,520)
- A Karen Millen shirtdress worn on stage and in court to attend the trial of her husband Blake Fielder Civil, in 2008 ($12,500)
- A dress stage worn while performing at the Center for Contemporary Culture; a mini dress worn while performing on stage at Bestival in Isle of Wight ($18,750); a tropical print dress worn during her 2007 European tour ($28,125); a bright yellow and black textured dress worn by Amy Winehouse while performing in Recife, northeastern Brazil, in 2011 ($25,000); a metal street sign that reads “Camden Square” inscribed with notes memorializing Amy Winehouse after the passing of Winehouse ($19,200) and more.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit The Amy Winehouse Foundation established by her parents Mitch and Janis Winehouse which raises awareness and support for vulnerable, young adults with addiction problems. The items toured around the world with exhibitions at The GRAMMY Museum, The Museo de la Moda, The Hard Rock Café in New York and Julien’s Auctions before this weekend’s auction. Highlighted items sold this weekend will head to the Amy: Beyond the Stage exhibition at the Design Museum in London beginning November 26th then go to their winning bidders after the exhibition.
