As devastating bush fires continue to rage in Australia, local online watch magazine Time+Tide Watches is mobilising a group of concerned companies from around the industry to raise money to aid the crisis. Taking its name from an official bush fire threat level, Watch & Act has so far received responses from 16 premium brands, some of which, including Hublot and Zenith, are providing unique pieces for the auction.
The Zenith Pilot Type 20 submitted for sale features a special case back. Through the sapphire display window on the obverse of the Hublot can be seen a handsome rotor honouring the firefighters in action. Fratello is offering one of its 29 recently-released Frederique Constant Manufacture Moonphase watches.
The auction will be held on the Invaluable platform and can be accessed here. It runs until 9am AEST on January 30th.

Time+Tide founder Andrew McUtchen has also found items including an H. Moser & Cie Pioneer, the personal watch of U2 bass player, Adam Clayton, an Oris Divers Sixty-Five Limited Edition for Hodinkee, and a Doxa SUB 200 130 Years Limited Edition.
Andrew McCutchen said “The danger posed by bush fires of this magnitude is very real and terrifyingly imminent. Human lives are at stake. Homes are liable to be destroyed. And huge swathes of the animal population are also unable to save themselves. Already the koala population has been cut to perilously low numbers. If the fires continue, many species could die out.
“There is a lot of love for Australia right now, and anyone bidding on these watches is not only showing it but sharing in it too.”
