French auction house Artcurial has three exceptional design sales scheduled for November 2019. Under the leadership of design experts Fabien Naudan and Emmanuel Bérard, the sales include Scandinavian Design on November 12th, French Masters on 19th November, and Italian Design on November 19th.
Scandinavian design – 12th November 2019
Highlights of the sales include outstanding pieces by Hans J. Wegner, Alvar Aalto, Paavo Tynell and Poul Henningsen. Among those:
Rare oak, cane and brass Dolphin made in 1950 by Hang J.Wegner (estimate: € 60,000-80,000)
Rare walnut and original leather chair by Peder Moos, from 1948 (estimate: € 30,000-50,000)
Rare brass ceiling lamp (circa 1950), from the Fantasia Series by Paavo Tynell (estimate: € 120,000-180,000).
French Masters design – 19th November
The sale hinges around two major lots with exceptional provenance:
A unique twenty-light hanging lamp by Jean Royère. Offered on the market for the first time, this lamp created in 1969 for Iran House (Maison de l’Iran) at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris (estimate: € 120,000-180,000). Jean Royère received several commissions from the Shah and his wife, especially for the décor of their private apartments in Teheran. When they decided to commission the official Iran house for the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris, they asked Jean Royère to design parts of the interior.

A cabinet called en forme or Japon dated from 1963 by Charlotte Perriand (estimate: € 220,000-300,000) is amongst key highlights of furniture pieces by French masters from the 1950s offered as part of the sale.
Italian Design – 19th November
Highlights include:
An outstanding desk in wood and brass designed by Gio Ponti (estimate: € 40,000-60,000).
A pair of hanging lamps by BBPR studio for their only project in India.
The widest version of this model produced by Arteluce has never appeared on the market before. It is estimated at € 30,000-40,000 each.
